What are the scholarly opinions regarding the ablution (wudu’) of a person afflicted with chronic flatulence (sals al-reeh) that ceases more often than it persists, and for which there is no specific time for its emission, and what is the preponderant opinion on this matter?

If the cessation of the wind [gas] is more frequent than its occurrence, and the cessation is irregular, then the view of the majority of scholars is that such a person is not subject to the ruling of سلس ( سلس البول - urinary incontinence, سلس الريح - chronic gas/incontinence of gas), and therefore, if he performs ablution (Wudu') and wind exits him, his ablution becomes invalid. Some Hanbalis have preferred the view that irregular cessation has the ruling of سلس, even if the cessation of the wind is more frequent than its occurrence.
