Is the husband's statement to his wife, "If you obey me, you will enter Paradise, but I will not," Islamically correct, and is he entitled to disregard her feelings under the pretext that her obedience is not among the reasons for entering Paradise?

It is not permissible for a husband to exploit his authority (qawamah) to harm his wife or wound her dignity, nor to confiscate her right to consultation. Just as obedience to the husband is a cause for entering Paradise, treating the wife with kindness, honoring her, and living with her in accordance with what is good (ma'ruf) is a cause for Allah's pleasure. Allah, the Almighty, says: "And live with them in kindness" (Quran 4:19), and "And due to them is similar to what is due from them, in accordance with what is good" (Quran 2:228). The Prophet encouraged good treatment of women, saying: "The best of you is the best to his family, and I am the best of you to my family." In another narration: "The best of you is the best to women." The Prophet's (peace be upon him) biography is full of his kindness to his wives and his patience with them.
