What is the ruling on folding a page of the Mushaf and placing it on the ground with the intention of expelling a disbelieving jinn, and is one who was accompanying the doer sinful, and what is the expiation for that sin, if it exists?

If placing the page on the ground is an act of disrespect towards it, then it is a serious sin that may lead its perpetrator to apostasy. Whoever sees a page from the Mushaf (copy of the Qur’an) lying on the ground must pick it up and is sinful for leaving it there if he is able to. The expiation for this is sincere repentance, increasing in good deeds, and seeking forgiveness.
