Will he who deliberately leaves copies of the Holy Quran to burn, despite being able to save them, in order to accuse his opponent of burning the copies of the Quran, be punished?

What this man did by leaving the Mushaf (copy of the Quran) in a place where he knew it would be burned is impermissible, because the people of knowledge have explicitly stated that intentionally leaving the Mushaf in a defiled place is considered disbelief (kufr).

Al-Dardir Al-Maliki said in his commentary on "Al-Mukhtasar": "Like throwing a Mushaf into filth, even if it is pure... and burning what was mentioned - the Quran and Hadith - if it is done out of contempt, then it is likewise (disbelief)."

However, this man's act of leaving the Mushaf in this place does not render him a disbeliever, because he did not intend to show disrespect or contempt for it. Rather, it appears he intended to provoke his opponent into committing something reprehensible. Therefore, he is subject to the will of Allah the Almighty.
