Is ablution (wudu') required to read the Qur’an, or is ritual purity (tahara) from major impurity (janabah) sufficient for someone who suffers from continuous flatulence?

There is a difference between touching the Mushaf (copy of the Qur'an) and reciting the Qur'an. Touching the Mushaf requires ritual purity from both minor and major ritual impurity. As for reciting the Qur'an, it requires ritual purity from major ritual impurity only, and minor ritual purity is recommended for it. In the event of breaking wind during recitation from memory, there is no harm, but it is preferable to pause the recitation when breaking wind and then resume it, out of respect for the Qur'an. However, if the reciter needs to touch the Mushaf and finds it difficult to perform ablution due to continuous breaking of wind, there is no harm upon them, as Allah Almighty says: "Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity."
