Is it permissible to prevent a wife from contacting her father who ignores their repeated calls and messages, knowing the high cost of calls for the spouses and their low cost for the father?

Maintaining kinship ties is obligatory, and Allah has warned against severing them. Cutting ties leads to increased animosity and hatred. A Muslim must maintain ties with their kin and help those under their responsibility to do so. It is not permissible to prevent a wife from speaking with her father, and a father's neglect of his daughter does not justify her cutting ties with him, because a father's right over his daughter is greater. As for phone calls, one can limit them to what does not cause harm, for the Lawgiver did not specify the amount or type of kinship ties to be maintained; rather, it is left to custom. The husband is not obligatorily required to pay for the cost of these calls.
