Is it permissible to take money from the former husband who, after the iddah (waiting period), requests that which is inappropriate, and with whom she has children, given an agreement to return to him later due to financial circumstances? And is the taking of money restricted to the children's expenses, or does it include her personal needs?

Once a divorced woman's iddah (waiting period) has ended, or if her divorce is an irrevocable major one, she becomes a stranger to her ex-husband. It is impermissible for him to enter upon her or look at her with desire. Therefore, it is not permissible for you to be alone with him or to enable him to derive pleasure from you, and you must repent from this. As for the money he gives you, it is not permissible for you to take it if it is in exchange for immorality or its preliminaries, or if you know that you will not be able to prevent him, because then it is considered the "harlot's dowry," which the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, described as "the worst of earnings."
