Is it permissible to gather in the mosque on the day of the Prophet's birthday at 9:00 AM to invoke blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and remember Allah while sitting, without any ecstatic swaying, dancing, or similar actions, or incense, and then partake of food and supplicate?

Gathering for remembrance (dhikr) on the occasion of the Prophet's birthday (Mawlid) is an innovation (bid'ah) and a newly introduced matter in the religion, even if it is not accompanied by dancing, wailing, or incense. This is because the Companions—who loved the Prophet (peace be upon him) the most intensely—did not do it. If it were good, they would have done it. Avoiding this innovation is obligatory, based on the Prophet's saying (peace be upon him): "Whoever performs an action which is not in accordance with our matter, it will be rejected."
