Is what you are experiencing—problems with your fiancé, his interference in your financial affairs, his demand that you request one of your father’s properties to be transferred to him, and his rejection of your work after he had promised you otherwise—all a result of Salatul-Istikharah, especially after your conversation with the girl who went through a similar experience?

There is no necessary connection between Istikhara (prayer for guidance) and the couple's problem. The sign of the Istikhara's outcome is whether one is facilitated towards the thing or not. The Mahr (dowry) is a right of the wife, and it is not permissible for the husband to take anything from it except with her full consent, as Allah Almighty says: "And give the women their Mahr as a free gift. But if they are pleased to give you some of it, consume it with pleasure and ease." (Quran 4:4). What the husband demanded from the wife regarding accommodation is not fitting for him. If the husband utters the word of divorce, the divorce occurs whether it is before or after consummation. If he divorces her before consummation, she becomes irrevocably separated from him and is not lawful for him again except with a new marriage contract. We do not advise returning to him if there is a fear of continuing problems.
