What is the ruling on a son emigrating from his country to flee from wickedness and injustice for the sake of his religion, while leaving his father in that country with the father's approval and encouragement for this?

Emigration to avoid sin fluctuates between being recommended (mustahabb) and obligatory (wājib). If the emigration is recommended, and it will lead to leaving the father alone, then emigration should not occur, even if the father grants permission. This is because honoring parents takes precedence over recommended emigration and is one of the best acts of closeness to Allah after prayer. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, prioritized it over jihad. If the father will remain alone, he will need service and care, and in that case, serving him becomes obligatory. Moreover, widespread immorality is scarcely absent from any land, so a child should not abandon his father alone for that reason.
