Is it permissible for us to perform the Friday prayer in our village, where the number of worshippers does not exceed fifteen, and are we required to repeat the Dhuhr prayer if we perform the Friday prayer?

Scholars differed on the minimum number required for the Friday prayer to be established. Some stipulated forty men (Shafi'is and Hanbalis), while others stipulated three men besides the Imam (Hanafis). Still others stipulated twelve resident men, not including the Imam (Malikis). Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah preferred the validity of the Friday prayer with three men, and Ibn Uthaymeen adopted this view, citing as evidence that the obligation of prayer upon three implies its validity from them.

If you are adherents of the Shafi'i madhhab, then the Friday prayer is not obligatory upon you due to the insufficient number. However, if you follow the Maliki or Hanafi madhhab, or any scholar who deems it valid in your situation, then the Friday prayer is valid, and you are not required to repeat it as Dhuhr. It is not obligatory for a Muslim to adhere to a specific madhhab.

If you adopt the view of those who do not consider the Friday prayer valid in your mosque, then you must strive to attend it if there is a nearby village (within a radius of five kilometers).
