What is the ruling on opposing a wife's work in hospitals or banks, and is a wife's refusal to do so considered disobedience to her parents? What is the extent of a husband's right to determine his wife's clothing, adornment, and places of presence?

There is no obedience due to the wife's parents in their command for her to work in mixed-gender environments or in usurious jobs, nor in their command for her to abandon modesty and covering. Rather, she must disobey them in such matters. The husband must assist his wife in leaving these jobs. This is not considered a violation of the marriage contract's conditions if working in these places was not a stipulated condition. Even if it were a stipulated condition, that condition is void because it contradicts the Book of Allah. The wife's family must fear Allah and know that their daughter's husband has more authority over her than they do, and her obedience to him is more incumbent upon her than her obedience to them. Furthermore, the husband's demand for his wife to adhere to modesty and hijab (definition) and to abandon ostentation and free mixing is an obligation upon him. He may also ask her to adorn herself for him in a permissible and customary manner.
