Are the letters that begin some surahs considered verses, and is there a miraculous element in them?

Twenty-nine surahs of the Qur’an begin with the disjoined letters ( حروف التهجي ). Nineteen of these opening letters constitute an independent verse, one forms two verses (Ḥā Mīm, Ain Sīn Qāf), and nine are part of the first verse. Merely composing similar letters to these disjoined letters is not considered a miracle. The miracle lies in producing a surah that matches the Qur’an in its eloquence, rhetoric, strength of style, richness of vocabulary, and sublimity of meanings. This is what the Arabs failed to do, despite their mastery of the language, and whoever attempted it became a laughingstock.
