What is the ruling on trainees performing movements and spinning to a song about the Quran while holding copies of the Quran in their hands at school celebrations?

Scholars have differed on the ruling regarding dancing in general. The preponderant view, in our opinion, is that it is makruh tanzihi (reprehensible in a minor way) if it is free from শরী'আহ transgressions. As for carrying the Mus'haf (copy of the Qur'an) while dancing, it is obligatory to preserve and revere the Mus'haf, and to avoid anything that shows disrespect towards it. Jurists have mentioned the reprehensibility of using the Mus'haf as a pillow or placing books containing Qur'anic verses under one's head; some even consider it haram (forbidden) due to the degradation and lack of reverence involved. Similar to this is extending one's legs towards the Mus'haf, which is considered reprehensible by the Hanafis due to the presence of Allah's names and the disrespect implied. Muslims are in agreement on the obligation to revere, sanctify, and preserve the Qur'an.

Based on this, if dancing is not forbidden, then there is nothing definitive to prohibit carrying the Mus'haf during it, though it is safer to avoid it out of concern for maintaining its sanctity and reverence. However, if dancing is forbidden, there should be no hesitation in stating the prohibition of carrying the Mus'haf during it, as that would contradict its veneration and reverence.
