Is shortening the garment (qamis) above the ankles by half a span, without it reaching mid-calf, rewarded?

Scholars have differed on the ruling concerning lengthening one's garment below the ankles. Some have absolutely prohibited it, while others have restricted it to instances of pride (khiyala'), and some have permitted it if it is free from pride. In any case, one who shortens their garment is rewarded, either for abandoning something unlawful or disliked, or for practicing the Sunnah (definition). It is not necessary for the garment to reach mid-calf; it is sufficient for it to be above the ankles.
