Is a woman's portraying herself with the voice of a boy considered prohibited imitation, and is it permissible for her to portray the role of a boy without using a boy's voice, with the aim of feeling masculinity?

It is not permissible for a woman to imitate a man for the purpose of acting, as this involves the forbidden act of imitation. However, if it is merely a feeling without words or actions, then there is no blame for that, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah has pardoned for my Ummah what they whisper to themselves, as long as they do not act upon it or speak of it." A woman should avoid indulging excessively in this feeling and preserve her feminine nature.
