The answer

Predestination (al-) is Allah Almighty's pre-ordainment of everything that occurs in the universe, in accordance with His knowledge and wisdom. Belief in it encompasses four matters: Allah's comprehensive knowledge of everything, eternally and infinitely; His inscription of that in the Preserved Tablet; that all beings come into existence only by His will; and that they are created by Him in their essences, attributes, and movements. Belief in predestination does not negate the existence of a servant's will and ability in their voluntary actions, for both Islamic law and reality indicate this, even though the servant's will and ability occur by the will of Allah Almighty.
