Should I obey my police chief if he orders me to disobey God?

It is not permissible to work in a profession that requires committing unlawful acts, for obedience to the ruler is obligatory unless he commands disobedience; as Allah Almighty says: "O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you" (4:59), and as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is no obedience in sinning against Allah; obedience is only in what is good." Therefore, it is advisable to leave this profession and seek another job, for whoever leaves something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better, and whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect.
