Is it permissible to use reverse osmosis technology to purify water at home, knowing that it wastes 50% of the water?

A person's preservation of their health and the health of their children and family is among the highest priorities, and the preservation of life is a fundamental objective of Islam. There is no objection to using water purification technologies if a person is in need of them, and there is no other alternative of the same quality and with less water wastage. This is not considered extravagance, because water purification is not a trivial goal but a great one that warrants spending money, as polluted water causes diseases that deplete health and wealth. These technologies are usually used only for drinking and cooking water, which reduces waste and avoids extravagance.
