Who was the last of the emigrants from Mecca to Medina?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The last of the emigrants from Makkah was Al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him), as he emigrated with his family in Ramadan of the eighth year of the Hijrah. He met the Prophet (peace be upon him) on the way while the Prophet was heading to conquer Makkah. His family completed the emigration, and he returned with the Prophet (peace be upon him) to witness the conquest of Makkah and Hunayn. Thus, the Hijrah was sealed with him, just as prophethood was sealed with Muhammad (peace be upon him). There are hadiths to this effect, including: "You are the last of the emigrants just as I am the last of the prophets," and "Indeed, Allah Almighty seals the Hijrah with you just as He sealed prophethood with me."
