Saffron is a perfume. So, if a pilgrim in a state of ihram drinks coffee containing saffron out of ignorance or forgetfulness, there is no blame on him. However, if he intentionally does so while knowing it is forbidden, then he must feed six needy persons, or fast for three days, or sacrifice a sheep.
