Is limiting one's connection with relatives to giving them money, without actual communication with them, considered upholding the ties of kinship?

The Shari'ah has not specified particular methods or a defined amount for maintaining kinship ties. Rather, the matter in this regard reverts to custom and varying circumstances. Thus, kinship ties are fulfilled through visits, communication, correspondence, greetings, and everything that custom considers to be a connection. Kinship ties have degrees; the lowest of which is abandoning abandonment and connecting with them through speech, even if only with a greeting. It varies according to ability and need, so some are obligatory and some are recommended. If relatives are in need of money, then giving them money is a connection, and it is better for it to be accompanied by communication. However, if they are not in need, their connection may not be fulfilled merely by giving money.
