The thief is obligated to repent by refraining from theft, regretting it, and resolving not to return to it, as well as by returning the stolen item and compensating for any depreciation. The stolen device must be returned to its owners, not to the thief. If the device is damaged or its value decreased, compensation for the depreciation is required, and the thief may also be liable to pay rent for the device for the period it was in their possession.
