A Muslim can perform ablution while standing or sitting, and pour water over the feet without rubbing them. As for prayer, one who is able should pray standing. If one is unable, they should pray sitting, based on the : "Pray standing; if you are unable, then sitting; and if you are unable, then on your side." It is permissible to pray sitting on a chair or on the ground.
