Is our description as innovators (heretics/bid'ah practitioners) truly accurate and correct, and are young people who lack knowledge permitted to incite against us and warn people away from us, merely because we occasionally perform rare actions considered bid'ah, such as collective supplication for the deceased after burial or raising hands for supplication on Friday, despite our doing so under exceptional circumstances and based on interpretations, and with our emphasis on our dislike for bid'ah and our adherence to the Sunnah?

The collective supplication and saying "Ameen" after burying the deceased is an innovated bid'ah that was not part of the guidance of the Prophet, peace be upon him, nor the guidance of his Companions. However, some scholars have deemed it permissible, so we do not decisively declare it an innovation given the difference of opinion, especially if the act is not frequently repeated.

Leaving what one believes to be more preferable in order to appease the feelings of the deceased's family and to avoid causing distress resembles the Prophet's command to Aisha to perform Umrah from Al-Tan'im to appease her, and similarly, speaking gently to the one he described as "the worst son of his tribe" to reconcile his heart to Islam. However, this does not apply to matters that are unanimously considered innovations or are habitually practiced as if they were a Sunnah.

As for those who describe you as innovators and cause trouble for you because of this, they are more deserving of the description of innovation. We advise you to strive in teaching people the Sunan and spreading knowledge, and to be patient with those who oppose you and deal with them gently.
