Is it obligatory to honor the mother who abandoned her son since birth and refuses to see him even though he is fifty years old?

A mother abandoning her child is a great error and goes against both Islamic law and natural disposition. However, it does not permit the son to cut ties with her or treat her poorly. Rather, he must show her kindness, treat her well, and pray for her. Filial piety towards a mother is not contingent on her righteousness; rather, it is a response to Allah's command and a hope for His reward. It is among the greatest acts of nearness to Allah, and a cause for Allah's pleasure, and for blessing in one's life and provision.
