How do I deal with my 13-year-old daughter who wants to listen to music and follow TV series, given my desire for her to be religiously committed, and should I prevent her completely while fearing her alienation?

The songs and TV series presented in the media today have a great harm on children. Parents must prevent their sons and daughters from watching and listening to them, as Allah Almighty says: "O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones." [At-Tahrim:6]. The prohibition should be with wisdom and gentleness to avoid adverse outcomes, and so that it does not lead to a greater evil. It is advised that the mother counsels her daughter by explaining the harms of songs and TV series, and finding permissible alternatives such as lawful nasheeds, connecting the girl with righteous girls, filling her free time with beneficial hobbies, and encouraging her with kind words and gifts.
