Is it permissible to listen to songs and watch video clips without the parents' knowledge, while the questioner is aware of their prohibition and wishes to stop them?
Songs, music videos, debauchery, and indecency are forbidden and corrupt the heart, deterring one from Allah, as He states: "And of the people is he who buys the amusement of speech to mislead [others] from the way of Allah without knowledge and who takes it in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment." (Quran 31:6). Becoming accustomed to them hardens the heart, facilitates forbidden infatuation and love, and leads to negligence in acts of obedience. To free yourself from them, be mindful of Allah's constant watch, seek righteous companionship, learn the Quran and Sunnah, consistently perform acts of obedience, do not sit alone, strive against your lower self, distance yourself from the means of these objectionable things, and remember that the youth who grew up in the obedience of Allah is among the seven whom Allah will shade.
