What is the ruling on listening to music in general, and especially to music videos?

Singing is of various types, and each type has its own ruling. The one who listens to forbidden singing incurs sin merely by listening to it. What then if it is accompanied by looking at forbidden images, such as pictures of female singers or women intermingling with men? This combines the sin of listening and looking, and pushes the one who is addicted to it into committing greater sins, such as adultery and sodomy. Therefore, one should utilize their life in obedience to Allah and in what benefits them in religious and worldly matters, and not waste it in sin and listening to forbidden songs and looking at forbidden images.
