Is a girl who was killed by a sniper considered a martyr even though she was not veiled and did not pray? What supplications can be recited to save her from the torment of the grave and make her grave a garden from the gardens of Paradise? Is it permissible to pray to see her in a dream to be reassured about her? Is it permissible to pray that her body does not decompose? Does the deceased hear those who visit her grave and speak to her? Does her soul return to her? Is it permissible to recite Umm Salamah's supplication when remembering a calamity?

Whoever dies before repenting of the sin of abandoning prayer is in grave danger. Some scholars have deemed it an act of disbelief, while the majority consider such a person a disobedient believer. May Allah expiate the sin of this unfortunate woman because she was unjustly killed, for the sins of one who is unjustly killed are expiated. The sword erases sins, and being killed obliterates every sin. One who is unjustly killed is a martyr. Occupying oneself with supplicating for the deceased and giving charity on her behalf is more beneficial than praying to see her in a dream or for her body not to decompose. The deceased recognizes those who visit them and hears their addresses. Reports have been continuously transmitted that the deceased recognizes the visit of the living and rejoices in it. It is permissible to recite the supplication mentioned in the hadith of Umm Salamah for anyone afflicted by a calamity: "Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. O Allah, reward me in my affliction and replace it with something better."
