I want to know how the devoted ascetic Fudayl ibn Iyad repented?

Ibn Kathir, Al-Dhahabi, Ibn Hibatullah, and Al-Qurtubi mentioned that Fudayl was a thief who loved a slave girl. While he was climbing to reach her, he heard a reciter chanting: "Has the time not come for those who have believed that their hearts should become humbly submissive at the remembrance of Allah and what has descended of the truth?" So he said: "Indeed, the time has come!" Then he repented and became the worshiper of the Two Sanctuaries.
