Is a man considered "muḥṣan" if he secluded himself with his wife after the marriage contract without having intercourse with her, and is he obliged to inform her of the indecency he committed, or should he conceal it, and how does he purify himself from this sin if he wishes to have the prescribed punishment (ḥadd) carried out upon him?

A man is not considered muhsan (chaste, having been in a valid marriage and had intercourse) unless he has engaged in intercourse in a valid marriage. Therefore, merely being alone with a contracted wife and fondling her without penetration does not constitute ihsan (the state of being muhsan). Consequently, the punishment of stoning is not carried out on someone who commits zina (unlawful sexual intercourse) after that; rather, only the punishment for zina is applied. He should sincerely repent, conceal his sin, and not inform anyone of what he has done, nor should he inform his wife.
