Does one whose wife died remain "muḥṣan" (chaste/protected by marriage), or does one who divorced her remain "muḥṣan"?

The muhsan (chaste, married person) is one who has had intercourse with his wife in a valid marriage, and both were adult, sane, and free. The continuation of the marriage is not required for the state of ihsan (chastity due to marriage) to persist. So, whoever marries once in a valid marriage and consummates it with his wife, then the marital relationship ends, then he commits adultery while unmarried, he is stoned. Similarly, if a woman marries then is divorced, and then commits adultery after her divorce, she is considered muhsanah (chaste/married) and is stoned.
