What is the ruling of Islamic law concerning some of the newly introduced innovations in wedding halls, such as: the bridal dais (kosha), the round tables on which coffee, tea, nuts, and sweets are placed along with candles, and the elevated pathway on which the bride walks during her entrance into the halls?

Customs and traditions are divided into sound and corrupt. Corrupt customs are those that contravene religious law (Sharia) or lead to mischief. An example of this is what happens in weddings, which include various Sharia violations, such as:

1. Extravagance and Wastefulness: Spending money in this manner is extravagance and wastefulness. Allah Almighty has forbidden extravagance and wastefulness, describing the wasteful as brothers of devils, and dispraising them. He said: "And eat and drink, but be not excessive. Indeed, He likes not those who commit excess." [Al-A'raf:31], and He said: "And do not spend wastefully. Indeed, those who spend wastefully are brothers of the devils, and ever has Satan been to his Lord ungrateful." [Al-Isra:27]. Squandering money is spending it improperly.

2. Aversion to Marriage: Holding weddings in this manner leads many to avoid marriage due to their inability to host a similar wedding, which results in an increase in spinsterhood and the commission of unlawful acts.

3. Boasting and Ostentation: Boasting and ostentation are prevalent among those who attend these weddings.

4. Other Violations: The bride exposing her 'awrah (intimate parts) before women by wearing transparent or revealing clothes. Weddings including prohibited music and singing. Imitating disbelievers in customs that have no connection to Islam.

Muslims must fear Allah and facilitate marriage, for the less burdensome a marriage is, the greater its blessing and happiness.
