What is the practical strength that Ibn al-Qayyim extensively discussed, and how can it be acquired?
Practical strength is part of human happiness, and it follows scientific strength, which is based on the knowledge of Allah Almighty, His names, attributes, the path leading to Him, its pitfalls, and the self and its shortcomings. The perfection of volitional practical strength can only be achieved by observing and upholding the rights of Allah with sincerity and truthfulness, while acknowledging one's shortcomings. Surat al-Asr mentions the four stages for achieving perfection: knowledge of the truth (faith), acting upon it (righteous deeds), teaching it (enjoining the truth), and patience therein (enjoining patience). This represents a person's perfection in themselves and their perfection for others.
