If a husband deliberately has intercourse with his wife during the daytime in Ramadan, he has committed a grave sin. Three things are incumbent upon him: repentance, making up that day, and offering the severe expiation (kaffarah). Scholars differ regarding the obligation of kaffarah upon the wife if she was consenting and willing.
