If intercourse occurs voluntarily during the daytime in Ramadan, the woman must repent and seek forgiveness. If her husband forced her, then there is no sin upon her, nor is expiation required from her.

If the intercourse was voluntary, it is safer to offer expiation, which is, in order: freeing a believing slave; if unable, then fasting for two consecutive months; if unable, then feeding sixty poor people.

The husband must also offer expiation along with repentance.
