If a man has intercourse with his wife during the daytime in Ramadan, then expiation is incumbent upon both of them. This expiation is the freeing of a slave. If they are unable to do so, then it is fasting for two consecutive months for each of them, provided she was compliant. If they are unable to do that, then it is feeding sixty poor people (thirty sa' for each of them), in addition to making up that day and repenting. The amount of food for one poor person is half a sa' (approximately 1.5 kilograms).
