Playing games that simulate prohibited acts, such as drinking alcohol or selling it, is forbidden. Prohibited play diminishes the reward of fasting, but it does not invalidate it. A fasting person must avoid lying, backbiting, slandering, cursing, and obscenity, and this is emphasized during Ramadan and in virtuous places. Imam Ahmad said: "It is befitting for the fasting person to take care of his fast concerning his tongue and to protect his fast." Backbiting and similar acts do not break the fast, but they reduce the reward.
