Does God burden us with what we cannot bear, and task us with what is beyond our capacity, in that He has obligated us to forgive, yet we are unable to do so? And will I be held accountable before God if I never forgive my parents and my brother, and never mend this relationship, even if the days turn and they request it?

The rights of parents are great, even if they are unjust or abusive. Allah has commanded kind companionship for idolatrous parents, and Imam Al-Bukhari dedicated a chapter in "Al-Adab Al-Mufrad" to honoring parents, even if they commit injustice. Similarly, maintaining kinship ties is obligatory, even if some relatives are unjust. Their wrongdoing does not permit severing ties with them completely; rather, maintaining ties is obligatory to the extent that it does not cause harm.

Filial piety and maintaining kinship ties have varying degrees, and their minimum is attainable. Hasten to repent to Allah, strive in supplicating for your mother and giving charity on her behalf, and maintain kinship ties through her. Strive to honor your father, connect with your siblings according to your ability, and reflect on the virtue of forgiveness and forbearance.
