When will the Islamic Ummah return to its strength?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The answer to the question of the Ummah and when it will return to its former glory lies in one word: "When it returns to its religion." The deplorable state of the Ummah today is what the Prophet, peace be upon him, warned against in his saying: "The nations are about to gather against you as people gather around a dish of food." A questioner asked: "Will that be because of our small number then?" He replied: "No, you will be many then, but you will be like the foam of the torrent. Allah will remove fear of you from the hearts of your enemies, and He will cast al-wahan (weakness/faintheartedness) into your hearts." A questioner asked: "O Messenger of Allah, what is al-wahan?" He said: "Love of the world and hatred of death." And his saying: "When you engage in eenah (a type of usurious transaction), and you take hold of the tails of cattle (i.e., become preoccupied with agriculture), and you are content with cultivation, and you abandon jihad, Allah will inflict humiliation upon you, and He will not remove it until you return to your religion." Therefore, returning to the religion of Allah the Almighty by changing what is within souls and preparing moral and material strength is what guarantees the Ummah's dignity, glory, and salvation in this world and the Hereafter.
