Does the assertion of the existence of the abrogating (nāsikh) and abrogated (mansūkh) verses in the Quran contradict the interpreters' discovery that the Quran changes its rulings? And is it true that the Prophet (peace be upon him) explained the Muslims' inability to hear the call to prayer by saying it was due to the farts of Satan?

Firstly: A Muslim should not expose himself to debating and discussing with atheists unless he has acquired sufficient religious knowledge to qualify him for it.

Secondly: Abrogation (Naskh) in the Holy Quran is known by the text of the Book, as in the verse: (Whatever a verse We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring forth [one] better than it or similar to it) Al-Baqarah/106. Abrogation occurs for a wisdom, which may be for ease, or to increase reward, or for gradual legislation, or to distinguish the people of truth from falsehood. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) alluded to the wisdom of abrogation when she said: "Indeed, the first part of what was revealed was a surah from the Mufassal, in which mention was made of Paradise and Hell. Then, when the people returned to Islam, the lawful and the unlawful were revealed. Had it been revealed first: 'Do not drink alcohol,' they would have said: 'We will never give up alcohol.' And had it been revealed: 'Do not commit fornication,' they would have said: 'We will never give up fornication.'"

Thirdly: What is claimed about Muslims not hearing the sound of the Adhan due to the devil's flatulence is a baseless question. The correct understanding is that when the devil hears the Adhan, he turns away and farts so that he does not hear the call to prayer. Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (When the call to prayer is made, the devil turns away, and he has flatulence so that he does not hear the call to prayer).
