To what extent are the mentioned hadiths, which speak of the reaction of the earth, sky, and angels towards the act of sodomy, authentic, and to what extent is the statement that disobedience to parents, murder, abandoning a single prayer, and committing adultery with a neighbor's wife are greater sins than sodomy, authentic? And does the one who commits it (sodomy) leave the fold of Islam?

Ibn Abbas's narration about the uproar of the earth, heavens, the House (Kaaba), and the roof due to the act of sodomy, and Allah's reproach that His forbearance encompasses them and they will not escape Him, and Abbas Al-Douri's narration that the earth groans from mention to mention (referring to the act), have not been authenticated or weakened by any of the scholars. Ibn Al-Qayyim's statement that the evil of sodomy comes second only to the evil of disbelief, and that its punishment is more severe than that of fornication, is his own opinion, and many Companions and jurists adopted it. The sin of intentionally abandoning prayer until its time expires, if one considers the one who abandons it an unbeliever, is greater than sodomy. This abomination does not expel its perpetrator from the fold of Islam unless he considers it permissible.
