What are the best channels for charity (sadaqat) that yield great reward?

The best recipients of charity are those who possess one or more of the following characteristics: the pious who shun worldly life, people of knowledge, monotheists who are grateful, those who are too modest to reveal their need, those who are constrained from earning a livelihood due to illness or family responsibilities, and relatives. Furthermore, building mosques, spending in jihad, disseminating knowledge, and inviting people to Allah are among the greatest acts of charity in terms of reward.
