What is the ruling on a husband preventing his wife from intercourse for more than two weeks, and what is incumbent upon him, and is this considered an act of defiance (nushūz)?

If a wife refuses to be intimate with her husband, she is sinful, disobedient to Allah, and rebellious (nashiz). She must obey her husband in matters concerning herself. Severe warnings have been reported regarding a wife's refusal to share her husband's bed. It is narrated in the Hadith: "If a man calls his wife to his bed and she refuses, and he spends the night angry with her, the angels curse her until morning." The treatment for nushuz (rebellion) begins with admonition, then abstention from sharing her bed, then a non-severe beating if it is deemed beneficial. A rebellious wife (nashiz) is not entitled to maintenance (nafaqah) or housing.
