What is the ruling on life insurance policies, and does the ruling differ if it is a gift from the insurance company to the head of the family against life's risks?

Life insurance is forbidden (haram (definition)), and it is not permissible to accept its policy, even as a gift, because it involves an endorsement of a forbidden act and a desire to benefit from unlawful money, due to the element of gambling it contains. Facing life's dangers is done by obeying and fearing Allah. Allah says: "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect." [At-Talaq (definition): 2-3]. And He said: "And let those [therein] fear who, if they left behind them weak offspring, would fear for them. So let them fear Allah and speak a word of appropriate counsel." [An-Nisa: 9].
