What is the ruling on my saying that I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), despite my uncertainty and my fear of falling under the warning: "Whoever intentionally lies about me shall take his seat in the Fire"?

Seeing the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in his established form is a glad tiding, because Satan cannot impersonate him. Claiming to have seen him falsely is a forbidden lie that requires repentance, because lying about what one sees in a dream is lying about Allah, and it is a greater sin than lying while awake. This is because a truthful dream is a part of prophecy, so whoever lies about a dream has lied about Allah, and lying about Allah is the greatest fabrication and most deserving of punishment. Therefore, whoever lies about seeing the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, must repent to Allah.
