Is it permissible to eat what has been hunted by a dog, despite the impurity of its saliva?

The dog: Its saliva is impure (najis), but its hair and wetness are pure (tahir).

The ruling on prey caught by a dog with its mouth:

- First opinion (Obligation of washing): The part of the prey that the dog held with its mouth must be washed seven times, one of them with earth. This is the view of the Shafi'is, the Hanbalis, and the apparent view of the Hanafis. - Second opinion (No obligation of washing): There is no obligation to wash the part of the prey that the dog held with its mouth. This is one of the opinions within the Shafi'i school, and one of the two narrations in the Hanbali school. It was favored by Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen, who cited Allah's saying: (So eat of what they catch for you) [Al-Ma'idah/4], and that no command to wash was mentioned, and in it there is ease and removal of hardship. - The second opinion is the more apparent one due to the strength of its evidence and its removal of hardship. It is a specific exception for the case of hunting from the general rule of the impurity of dog saliva.
