How can the Hadith about the sun being brought near on the Day of Resurrection be reconciled with the Hadith about complete darkness on that Day?

The sun will draw near to people at the Standing (Mawqif), then after they depart from it, they will be in the darkness that precedes the Sirat (Bridge).

People will stand barefoot, naked, and uncircumcised. The sun will draw near, and sweat will bridle them. The scales will be set up, the ledgers will be spread out, and Allah will hold all creation accountable. The promised Pool (Hawd) of Muhammad, peace be upon him, its water is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. The Sirat is laid over Hell, and people will cross it according to their deeds. Some will cross it as fast as a blink of an eye, some will crawl, and some will be snatched and thrown into Hell.
