What is the ruling on 3D drawings of a cartoon character in the shape of a bird with a large head and a robot-like nature, and on realistic or cartoon animal figurines, in an educational application for children?

It is permissible to draw cartoon characters and animals, whether 3D or on paper, for children. This is an exception to the prohibition of drawing animate beings, and they should not closely resemble reality unless they are real pictures taken with a camera. This is supported by what was reported from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) regarding her playing with dolls in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). What is permitted for children in this regard is not permitted for adults. It is cautious not to buy dolls that perfectly mimic the human form and to resort to other alternatives. As for pictures taken with a camera and videos, there is no harm in them as long as they remain within the device or application and are not printed on a fixed medium like paper.
